Dehradun: KRIBHCO’s Seed Processing Unit at Rudrapur produced 13,111.20 quintals of wheat seed during 2025–26, as the cooperative continues to strengthen farmer outreach in Uttarakhand through programmes focused on soil health, balanced fertiliser use and improved agricultural practices.

The production figures and farmer engagement initiatives were highlighted by Jaber Singh, Uttarakhand State Marketing Manager, KRIBHCO, at a media workshop organised by the Forum for Indian Journalists on Education, Environment, Health & Agriculture (FIJEEHA) in collaboration with GreyMatters Communications & Consulting in Dehradun on October 27, 2026.

During 2025–26, KRIBHCO organised three crop seminars in Uttarakhand, with 285 participants. The sessions covered KRIBHCO products and developments in wheat varieties.

The cooperative also conducted 14 farmers’ meetings focusing on balanced fertiliser use, soil testing and the correct methods of soil sample collection. Field demonstrations on zinc and liquid bio-fertilisers were organised to familiarise farmers with their role in soil health and crop production.

Other initiatives included dealers’ conferences and cooperative education conferences, which addressed agricultural inputs, crop requirements, farmer incomes and the role of cooperatives in rural development.

Speaking at the workshop, Jaber Singh said KRIBHCO’s programmes aim to take agricultural knowledge directly to farmers and encourage informed decisions on fertiliser use and soil health.

Between 2021–22 and 2025–26, KRIBHCO reached 17.71 lakh farmer beneficiaries across India through 24,559 programmes.

In Uttarakhand, the cooperative tested 14,826 soil samples for macronutrients and 16,152 for micronutrients during the five-year period. Its activities also included 5,391 farmers’ meetings, 1,188 crop demonstrations and 1,167 field days.

KRIBHCO adopted 951 cooperative societies and organised 791 cooperative conferences in the state. It also distributed 44.76 lakh units of technical literature and undertook rural development initiatives covering tree plantation, healthcare, veterinary services and income generation.

These activities form part of the cooperative’s efforts to improve agricultural awareness and strengthen its engagement with farmers and rural institutions.

Dr Navneet Anand, President of FIJEEHA, highlighted the importance of farmer education in agricultural development. He noted that soil testing, field demonstrations and direct interaction with farmers can help translate technical information into practical knowledge.

The workshop brought together KRIBHCO representatives and journalists to discuss the cooperative’s initiatives in Uttarakhand, including seed production, agricultural input awareness, soil health and farmer education.

With Rabi sowing underway, access to quality seeds and awareness of balanced nutrient management remain important areas of focus for farmers across the state.
