India Medical Device 2026 to focus on Atmanirbhar MedTech, innovation and global manufacturing

New Delhi: The Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), will organise the 9th India Medical Device 2026 on August 7-8 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, healthcare professionals, researchers, start-ups and investors to discuss the future of India's rapidly growing medical devices sector.

The conference, themed "Towards Viksit Bharat: Advancing India as a Global Hub for Quality Medical Devices," will focus on strengthening India's MedTech ecosystem through innovation, quality manufacturing, localisation and exports.

Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilisers Anupriya Patel will inaugurate the conference on August seven, while Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilizers J.P. Nadda will deliver the keynote address on "Atmanirbhar MedTech: Accelerating India's Journey towards Viksit Bharat" on August eight.

Senior government officials, including Department of Pharmaceuticals Secretary Manoj Joshi, Health Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava, Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) Rajeev Singh Raghuvanshi and NITI Aayog Member (Health) Dr M. Srinivas, are expected to participate along with CEOs of leading medical device companies, healthcare institutions, academia and industry representatives.

Ahead of the event, Manoj Joshi said the conference would serve as a platform to showcase India's growing capabilities in the medical devices sector, strengthen global partnerships, encourage innovation and promote quality manufacturing.

The two-day programme will feature discussions on key areas such as localisation of medical device components, technology leadership, Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare, regulatory pathways, export promotion, service and maintenance of medical equipment, and reimbursement mechanisms for innovative therapies under Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

A dedicated session will also explore how India can emerge as a global hub for Software as a Medical Device (SaMD), while another will focus on strengthening domestic manufacturing of medical device components to reduce import dependence and support the country's self-reliance goals.

The conference will conclude with an exclusive CEO roundtable with Union Minister J.P. Nadda, where industry leaders are expected to deliberate on policy priorities and the future roadmap for India's MedTech sector.

Leading companies, including GE HealthCare, Abbott Healthcare, Philips India, Medtronic India, Johnson & Johnson MedTech and Hindustan Syringes & Medical Devices Ltd., will participate in the event alongside start-ups and research organisations.

The conference is expected to provide a platform for collaboration between the government, industry and academia while supporting India's ambition of becoming a globally competitive manufacturing and innovation hub for quality medical devices.
