Union Minister Amit Shah inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple central and state government projects worth over Rs 800 crore in Patna, Bihar, on March 30, 2025. Addressing the gathering, he highlighted the central government's decade-long dedication to improving the lives of millions, with a particular focus on the cooperative sector and infrastructure development.
Among the major projects, Shah laid the foundation stone for a Rs 83.16 crore initiative to develop a storage capacity of 62,500 metric tonnes across 25 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) under the world's largest food storage scheme
Additionally, Rs 181.14 crore has been allocated for constructing 133 police buildings, and Rs 109.16 crore for three highway projects under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. He also inaugurated a hostel at the Deep Narayan Singh Regional Cooperative Management Institute, built at a cost of Rs 27.29 crore.
The newly constructed Makhana Processing cum Marketing Center, costing Rs 46 lakh, and 11 warehouses worth Rs 2.27 crore were also inaugurated. Furthermore, under the AMRUT-1 project, five drinking water supply schemes worth Rs 421.41 crore were launched.
Highlighting the government’s focus on strengthening PACS, Shah noted that these cooperative institutions have been digitized and are now involved in a wide range of activities. He announced the establishment of a Makhana Board in Bihar and shared plans for reviving the Maize Research Centre with a Rs 1,000 crore investment, along with new initiatives to support maize farmers.
Stressing the government’s commitment to farmers, he mentioned that the procurement of maize, pulses, wheat, and rice is being carried out at the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
Shah also underlined Bihar's dominance in agricultural production, ranking first in litchi, mushroom, and makhana, second in maize, and among the top producers of lentils, honey, moong, sugarcane, wheat, and rice. He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to reviving Bihar’s 30 defunct sugar mills.
The event witnessed the presence of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai.
