Rallis India bags Two Awards in the “Most Innovative Category” at the DX (Digital Transformation) Awards 2022

  • Date : 21 October, 2022

Rallis India has been conferred with two awards under the ‘Most Innovative Category’ at the 4th edition of CII – Tata Communications Centre for DX (Digital Transformation) Awards. Rallis has won these awards for ‘DRISHTI – A predictive intelligence system’ and its ‘R&D-based project, Integrated Acceleration of Product Development using Genomics’.

‘The Most Innovative category’ is the highest level of the award conferred at the DX Awards and Rallis India’s digital prowess and R&D capabilities –  both were recognized under this.

DRISHTI is a remote sensing and AI-driven surveillance for hybrid seed production farms co-developed by Rallis and Tata Consultancy Services. The Predictive analytics from DRISHTI helps the hybrid seed production function to spot future risks and opportunities. It also enables the user to make informed decisions to optimize production costs and improve yield. This technology allows the identification of the problem areas remotely, thus significantly saving time and human efforts.

Rallis seeds R&D developed and deployed novel Molecular Breeding methods/solutions for accelerated product development.  Integrated Acceleration of Product Development using genomics is applied across the crops for which Rallis Seed R&D is currently working on - Rice, Maize, Mustard, Pearl Millet, Cotton, Tomato, Hot Pepper and Okra to check disease tolerance, improve crop appeal and in some cases produce quality. Improvement in disease tolerance attributes in Rallis’s products will ensure a higher yield. This will also impact trait attributes like herbicide tolerance, tomato fruit firmness, seed quality etc. Rallis is also developing machine learning-based methodologies for predicting product performance for key attributes like yield.

Talking about these awards Mr Sanjiv Lal, MD & CEO, Rallis India said, “Research, innovation & technology have been at the forefront of Rallis’s future-ready strategy. Awards like these are a testimony of our commitment to offering the best to farmers. We are constantly upping our investment in R&D and technology. We shall continue investing towards increasing crop resilience, digital transformation using artificial Intelligence, big data analytics, Internet of things (IoT), Smart manufacturing, etc. to make farming predictable and profitable."

Rallis India has been strategically deploying its robust research resources to find solutions to make agriculture resilient. Product development using genomics is a great example of this. It will ensure that farmers get access to varied products to cultivate with the necessary attributes for the market segment and access to assured quality seeds. Easy seed production in cotton will help efficiency for seed producer farmers. Rallis has deployed a unique combination of methods to create these solutions and has filed patents to protect many of these inventions.

Along with investing in R&D, Rallis is rapidly and constantly expanding the use of digital tools. The company has introduced a range of digital initiatives to deliver benefits to its stakeholders. Some of the important milestones on Rallis digital road map are Rallis Krishi Samadhan, a mobile-based platform for farmers to access product information and farming practices; E-Sparsh and e-Bandhan, digital platforms to connect sales team and distribution; Dr Vishwas, a digital platform for farmer helpline management.

This was the fourth edition of DX Awards 2022 aimed to highlight the innovative digital strategies and technologies that play a crucial role in transforming business models and processes, driving growth in new and existing markets. The awards recognise the innovative, resilient and sustainable strategies for the introduction or adoption of digital technologies and serve as a benchmark for other industries in their journey for Digital Transformation.
